Deadline for submissions is April 14, 2010. There is an entry fee of $20.

1.        The intent of this juried exhibition is to present the best innovative new work created by ceramic artists who are resident on the Sunshine Coast. (This area includes all of the Sunshine Coast Regional District, the Town of Gibsons, the District of Sechelt, the Sechelt Indian Government District, Keats,  Gambier and Nelson islands.)
2.        As well as objects that can be displayed on plinths, artists are encouraged to submit objects such as masks, tiles and plaques that can be wall-hung. Each artist will be represented by a group of objects that can be displayed on a maximum 30-inch by 30-inch plinth (or collection of plinths) with the additional display option of a 30-inch (w) by 40-inch (h) vertical space on the wall behind the plinth(s). Artists are cautioned to limit the number of objects they submit for display in order to create maximum visual effect.

3.        Artists may apply in one of two categories: established ceramic artists and emerging ceramic artists. Please note that, if in the opinion of the juror the artist has chosen the incorrect category, the juror may change the artist's category.

4.        All photos of the artist's work must be submitted on a compact disk (cd). Slides and/or prints will not be accepted for consideration. Photos must be on digital files that are at least 300 dpi in resolution and not less than five inches in width. From the photos of work on this cd each artist must designate one to be used in the show catalogue. The work depicted in this photo must be part of the artist's final submission.

It is essential that the quality of the photos does justice to the work, showing it off to its best advantage. It is recommended that each object be placed in front of a neutral background to be photographed; it is also important to use extra light sources.
More tips on photographing ceramics are available on the internet, in particular on http://flickr.com/photos/searleb/2133181292  or http://flickr.com/photos/searleb/2637620304/

Artists may also consider taking their work to a professional photographer to get the best results.

5.        Artists must be prepared to supply sale prices for works that are for sale and insurance value for works that are not for sale.

6.        The coordinators of Ceramics on the Edge 2 reserve the right to determine final arrangement and installation of all works on exhibition. The artist may not remove or change the positioning of any work during the exhibition without the approval of the coordinators.
